FAAAT | For Alternative Approaches to Addiction – Think & do tank

VORTRAG: Cannabis in UN Vereinbarungen: kommen endlich Änderungen?

Kenzi wird über den Status von Cannabis innerhalb der UN Vereinbarungen und mögliche Regelungen in der - hoffentlich nahen - Zukunft sprechen.

Hier ein kurzes Exzerpt seines Vortrages in englischer Sprache:

The NGO FAAAT think & do tank has been working for years to put emphasis on the current scheduling of cannabis within the international drug control treaty system. After managing the WHO to engage on one of its main treaty-mandated role, the scientific assessment of drugs, in relation to Cannabis, the issue is now to monitor the so-called "review process" and have it be comprehensive, transparent and efficient.

The scheduling of cannabis in the strongest possible list obliges the 183 countries that have ratified the UN drug treaties to apply the stricter control measures to cannabis, including its total prohibition.

Changing the scheduling of cannabis internationally is a preliminary step for any country to have its hands untied when it comes to regulating medical or non-medical use of the plant.

Further these challenges for future positive regulations of Cannabis, the ongoing review process undertaken by WHO might affect Cannabidiol, with a possible outcome being the inclusion of the CBD molecule within the schedules of narcotics, thus putting an end to the actual market of CBD whose important growth has been witnessed during the last years.

Through a recall of the history of Cannabis within the international drug control system, until the current review process undertaken by WHO, and that FAAAT think & do tank is the only organization working on, the conference will present salient points of the process, the direct links to access and research, as well as the possible expectations for the future of Cannabis and the international drug control system.
